How to keep your mobile number when you switch network

Thinking of changing networks?

The process is pretty simple.

Step 1: Get a Port Authorisation Code (PAC) code

The first thing you must do is get a PAC code from your old network provider. This code gives us permission to transfer your old number to Three and close your account with your current provider at the same time.

To get a PAC code, simply text PAC to 65075 from the number you want to keep - this is totally free. It’ll arrive within 60 seconds and will be valid for 30 days.

Step 2: Decide on your new plan

Whether you’re after a Pay Monthly deal, or you’d prefer to be on Pay As You Go, your next move is to select the package which suits you best and lay your hands on a new phone and SIM.

Step 3: Activate your new SIM

You now need to activate your new SIM before your old number can be transferred. Activating a SIM is easy – just put the new SIM into your device and switch it on. Once you see signal bars, it’s active (but you might need to switch off Wi-Fi to see the signal bars).

Step 4: Use a PAC code to keep your number

Let’s now cover how to use your PAC code. Once you’ve activated your SIM, please fill in our online form to transfer your number. Simply enter your details and we’ll take care of the rest. 

Step 5: Wait for confirmation

We’ll send you a text or email to confirm your number has been moved over. If you submit your form before 17:00 during the week, your number should be transferred the next working day.
