Samsung Galaxy S23 vs S22: What’s new?
February 8, 2023
The epic new Samsung Galaxy S23 Series is finally here. And, as we’ve come to expect, it’s arrived in style, with 3 stunning models: Samsung S23 Ultra, S23+ and S23. But what’s new for Samsung phones in 2023? And how does the Galaxy S23 Series compare to its predecessor, the Samsung S22?
Samsung Galaxy S23 vs S22: The cameras
The Galaxy S23 Ultra brings in a head-spinning 200MP main camera, compared to the main 108MP S22 camera. And all models in the S23 Series sport an improved Nightography feature, which boosts colours and sharpens details in low light. And now, the S23 Series has Nightography built into its 12MP front-facing camera too. As with the Samsung S22 Series, there is no S23 Under Display Camera.
Samsung Galaxy S23 vs S22: The displays
Samsung have kept their ultra-immersive displays for the Galaxy S23 Series. The S23 Ultra retains the S22’s 6.8in screen, with Dynamic Quad HD and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The S23+ follows suit, keeping to the 6.6in display of the S22+, with Full HD and up to 120Hz refresh rate. Then, the S23 stays with its handy 6.1in size – the same as the S22 screen size – again with Full HD and up to 120Hz refresh rate.
Samsung Galaxy S23 vs S22: The batteries
If you’re a phone fiend who’s looking for all-day power, the Galaxy S23 battery will make sure you’re not caught short. Galaxy S23 Ultra boasts the same 5,000mAh as the S22 Ultra battery, but the S23+ has an improved 4,700mAh compared to its S22 predecessor’s 4,500mAh. Galaxy S23 has a similar improvement, with a strong 3,900mAh – it was 3,700mAh on the S22 battery.
Samsung Galaxy S23 vs S22: The designs
The Galaxy S23 Series comes in 4 colours: Green and Phantom Black – throwbacks from the Galaxy S22 colours – and the new Cream and Lavender. Galaxy S23 is built to be tough, using the latest and toughest Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® to protect the front and back and an Armour Aluminium frame, as tough and durable as the Galaxy S22. The Pink Gold, White and Bora Purple colours of the S22 Series are no longer available, although we think Cream and Lavender have probably got you covered.
Samsung Galaxy S23 vs S22: The processors
This year, Samsung have made the leap away from the S22 Series’ 4nm Exynos 2200 processor. Every phone in the Galaxy S23 Series features the super-powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 Processor for Galaxy. It’s the most powerful mobile chip in a Galaxy S Series yet – packed with the power required to take your multitasking, gaming and photography to the next level.
To Sum Up
So in terms of the key features, Samsung have kept to the S22 Series’ incredible immersive displays, tough, elegant design, and similar powerful batteries, with an improvement in that area to the S23+ and S23. But it’s the camera and processor that’s really catching our eye in the Samsung S23 Series. The improved Nightography and seamless integration with social media could be a huge deal for 2023, and the jump to the Qualcomm Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 Processor means you could soon get your hands on Samsung’s smartest, most elegant, and super-powerful phones in an S Series yet.
