Pay As You Go phones

You can add your Data Pack as you buy your new phone on Three, in 3 easy steps:

1. Pick a Pay As You Go phone

Select Pay As You Go in the filter and explore our range of phones. Once you’ve picked your favourite, it’s time to choose your Data Pack.

2. Select a Data Pack

Select the Pay As You Go plan, then from the Add-ons section, choose the Data Pack you need. And you can auto-renew to get even more data each month.

3. Enjoy your new phone

Once you’ve chosen your phone and Data Pack, and completed your purchase, then we’ll take it from there. Your new phone will be on its way.

Alternatively, if you don’t buy a Data Pack when you buy your phone, then once you’ve received your new device, you’ll need to download the Three app where you can register your SIM, and browse all the Data Packs we have on offer.

Most new phones now have access to the internet – both on Pay As You Go and contract. Make sure you check that the phone you’re purchasing is 4G or 5G-enabled.

It depends on where you get your Pay As You Go phone from. All Pay As You Go phones on Three are unlocked so you can use them freely, straight away. If you’re purchasing a second-hand Pay As You Go phone, you’ll need to check with the seller to make sure it’s unlocked.

On Three, you can Go Roam at no extra cost on Pay As You Go. This means that you can use your existing credit or Data Pack abroad to call and text the UK, and use data in over 160 destinations worldwide – up to 12GB. All you need to do is make sure your Pay As You Go SIM is activated in the UK before you travel – you can do this by making a call, sending a text, or using data on your SIM.

Yes, as long as you’ve activated your Pay As You Go SIM in the UK by sending a text, making a call, or using data before you go, then your phone will work abroad in our over 160 Go Roam destinations worldwide. You can use your credit or Data Pack to call and text back to the UK, and use up to 12GB of data abroad at no extra cost.

Yes, if you buy a Pay As You Go phone on Three, it will come with a SIM. You can switch your existing number across to Three, easily, with only a text.

Pay As You Go means that you only pay for what you use, rather than be tied into a monthly contract. You can either go for traditional Pay As You Go, where you add credit to your phone, which gets used up as you call, text and use data. Or you can add a Data Pack to your phone, which you pay for up-front – Data Packs give you a fixed amount of Data for a month, and you can choose to renew your Data Pack each month.

Depending on who you’re buying your phone with, prepaid and Pay As You Go can mean different things. With some providers, your Pay As You Go minutes or rates can last you for a set amount of time – normally a month/30 days. Prepaid can mean you get set monthly rates but without a contract. At Three, prepaid and Pay As You Go are the same thing – you pay for your credit or Data Pack up-front and then use it until it runs out.
