If you're currently using a Pay As You Go SIM, then you'll be able to leave at any time. If you're on one of our Pay Monthly SIM Only contracts, then you'll be able to cancel when that contract is up for renewal, or you may be asked to pay a fee. Our Pay Monthly SIM Only contracts last for 1, 12 or 24 months. Alternatively, you have the option to upgrade your plan if you’ve been with Three for more than 90 days. Yes, with SIM Only you can still use all your favourite web messaging services, like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Any data use will come out of your SIM plan allowance.

Yes, with a Three SIM you'll be able to use your device abroad. The process for activating Go Roam for your Three SIM differs slightly for Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go plans. You can find out more on our Go Roam page.

If you already have a plan with Three that includes a device, you’ll automatically be on a SIM Only contract once your device loan has been paid off. This will happen when you complete your first contract. 

If you don’t have a contract with Three, getting a SIM Only plan is easy. You can either get a SIM Only plan with a new number or you can choose to switch your current number to your new Three SIM.

As well as Pay As You Go SIM deals, Three offers 30-day, 12- and 24-month contracts on SIM Only. 

You'll probably need a nano SIM – it's the most used SIM in smartphones and tablets today. All Three SIMS are what’s known as trio SIMs, they can quickly be adapted to fit any size device, including nano. You can find more info on what size SIM you need here.

Have a handset you bought through another network? Providing your phone has been unlocked, then it should work just fine.

Follow these steps to activate your SIM:

1. Insert your SIM into your phone and switch it on.
2. We'll text you to let you know we've begun activating your SIM.
3. We'll send you a second text telling you to turn your phone off and on again.
4. Your SIM will be activated when you restart your phone.

An eSIM is a digital SIM built into devices that allows you to activate a plan without having to use a physical SIM. If you choose eSIM, there’s no waiting – we'll email you the eSIM for you to use straight away. You can install multiple eSIMs into a device and use two or more phone numbers at the same time.

We’ll send you a QR code which you can scan to activate your eSIM. Once activated, it will work in the same way as a traditional SIM, allowing you to browse the internet or take calls via the Three network. 

No, all Three’s SIMs are 5G compatible.

Dual SIM models allow you to use two SIM cards in one device. This is useful if you have different phone numbers for work and home. It’s great for travelling too – you can use a local number while keeping your original number active when abroad.

Most tablets and mobile devices use a nano SIM. Our Three SIMs are known as trio SIMs, because they can be adapted to fit any size phone, including nano. 

Yes, you’ll be able to roam and use your allowances abroad in over 160 locations around the world. Although the costs for roaming differ depending on whether you’re a Pay Monthly or a Pay As You Go SIM user. Read more about roaming with Three. 

eSIM Quick Transfer lets you bring a number over to a new phone faster and easier than ever.

It doesn’t matter whether you already have an eSIM or not – you can transfer a number from a physical SIM card to a new phone, or from an existing eSIM to a new device. 

eSIM Quick Transfer is only available for iPhone customers right now, but this technology could become available for Android users in the future.
