Accessing and blocking adult content

All new Three devices have our adult content filter switched on by default. This means that if you try to access adult/18+ content – classified the same way that 18+ film and video content is classified – via the Three network, these sites won’t load.

Switching this filter off is simple. As long as you're over 18, you can switch it off, and on again, whenever you like.

You can verify that you’re over 18 using a credit card following the steps below.

If you don’t have a credit card, take your photo ID into a Three Store so your age can be verified or Contact Us and we’ll give you a hand.

Via your account

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Head to Manage services, and select Plan settings.
  3. Toggle Allow adult content to suit your preference. If it’s the first time you’ve done this, you’ll be asked to input your credit card details.
  4. Select Continue.

Via the App

  1. Open the Three app.
  2. Select Plan and Manage your plan.
  3. Under Adult content hit Edit.
  4. Toggle Allow adult content to suit your preference. If it’s the first time you’ve done this, you’ll be asked to input your credit card details.
  5. Select Save changes.

Apple device users: If you have iCloud Private Relay enabled, this can prevent the Adult Content Filter from working correctly. For more information and guidance on this, please head to iCloud Private Relay.

If you think we're blocking a site we shouldn't be, or something's not blocked when it should be, email us at content@three.co.uk. We'll get in touch within 3 working days.

Note: The team who check this inbox has no access to customer accounts. They won't be able to turn your filter off. If you're having problems, get in touch.

We've got filters you can apply for anyone under the age of 18. They've been developed in line with the content self-regulation code of practice that we worked with other UK networks to create. They're based on an independent framework produced by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

The BBFC classifies online adult content as anything that can be described as violent, gory, sexually explicit or drug-related in the same way that 18+ film and video content is classified. You can find out more about the classification of adult content on the BBFC site. In support of the UK government's drive to improve internet safety, all services have our internet content filter switched on by default. As long as you're over 18, you can switch this filter off whenever you like.
